New League On The Block - IGCL

With all the hype and hoopla associated with IPL, ICL etc, I have decided to register, patent and launch a revolutionary new concept sport league - the IGSL Indian Gully Sports League.

There will be multiple versions under this banner …some of them being:
1) IGCL - Indian Gully Cricket League
2) IGDL - Indian Gully Danda League
3) IGFL - Indian Gully Football League

Details are in the process of being worked out, but some work has been done in defining the format and process behind IGCL.

IGCL will aim to bring the fun back into cricket - like the way it used to be when we were kids. Basically, each colony / nagar / street in a city will be able to put up their own cricket team. There will be inter-gully, inter-nagar, inter-colony competitions with the intent of having 2 top teams from each city qualifying for a national premiership competition (pretty much like the UK Premiership).

The gully cricket will observe local gully cricket rules including but not limited to 'one tip one hand' out, out by 'current', 2d and 3d etc.

Gully cricket will also feature rules from indoor cricket like, 8 a side teams, matches limited to 8 overs with 8 balls per over, two over per pair, negative runs for 'out' batsman.

The whole intent being to bring the 'fun' back into cricket. The matches will be played in small grounds in the local area (not those big boring cricket grounds). Matches will be palyed using tennis / rubber balls and will be either overarm or underarm bowling in addition to right arm / left arm - over the / round the wicket.

In terms of market / revenue generation - we could market advertising and sponsorship at a premium as organisations will have the ability to target small audiences in an effective manner. Games will probably be structured to be played between 8:00 and 9:00 PM and could in reality be slotted as a reality TV show on prime time !!
